I am a mother of two, and I have my own baby 19. He seemed to be overwhelmed by new experiences, games and activities his peers seemed to enjoy and take in their stride. He would have severe emotional meltdowns if I changed the colour of his fork or gave him the wrong clothes. He would be very fearful of people dressed in costumes or as cartoon characters.
I read all I could on psychology, child development and neuroscience in an attempt to raise him from an hyper-sensitive baby to a well adjusted adult. This blog is a repository of information and research, as well as a place for me to share my experiences with other parents of high-reactive children.
My son is now 5 and we have a long way to go, but thanks to my reading and research we have learned not to ride against the tide, and work with our son's temperament to raise a healthy, happy and successful child.
